Here’s Asterix and his three closest pals: Obelix, Dogmatix and Gatafix in a tableau which sums up the central secret of the Asterix books.
It shows Asterix smacking his chops after taking some of the magic potion brewed by the druid Getafix as his best pal, the enormous and enormously loyal Obelix is refused (he was, after all, dropped in the potion as a child and so has super powers permanently) and his tiny pet hound, Dogmatix, looks on.
This is the first time I’ve printed one of the inner circle all together.
The characters are coloured in their respective colours: yellow for Asterix (because his signature moustache is yellow), blue for Obelix (because his striped trousers have blue stripes), red for Getafix (because his druid’s cape is red) and Dogmatix has a blue nose.
The hand-pulled screenprint is produced as ever on mould-made cotton paper milled in Somerset, England, in my medium format, 48cms x 38cms, and is £145 unframed or £185 framed.
