I’ve produced two new, tall, thin screenprints of Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix in silhouette – this time on teal backgrounds. The first one is of Asterix alone. The other is of Obelix and his hound.
I love the colour I’m using here – and the fact that most of the screenprints is just plain ink emphasises that the colour is to be enjoyed for its own sake.

I am the the first and only British screenprinter to have permission from French publisher Editions Albert Rene to use their archive of images for my work.

Asterix first appeared in 1959 and 35 books drawn by Albert Uderzo and written by Rene Goscinny were published until 2010, although new titles are now being issued with new writers and draftsmen.
The Asterix series has been translated into more than 100 languages. The books have been turned into 13 films: nine animated, and four live action. There have also been a number of games based on the characters, and a theme park near Paris, Parc Astérix. Some 325 million copies of 34 Asterix books have been sold worldwide.
