THE BEAUTY OF THE BLANK SHEET

Posted by John Reynolds on

I've just been struck by the plain beauty of the inked sheet, before it had an image printed upon it. Here are four sheets of my mould-made cotton paper, with a layer of plain red ink.

The red ink lying upon the sheet - and that's it.

I have struggled to appreciate the conceptual art of blank canvas in the past ... but perhaps this goes some way to explain what the appeal of apparently plain work.
